Olorunfemi Adetona, Ph.D.
Ohio State University College of Public Health
Project Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Adetona’s research focuses on the linkage between environmental and occupational exposures to combustion air contaminants and adverse health effects. His work studies exposures in these settings in association with molecular and physiological responses towards elucidating the mechanisms that underlie their contribution towards the development cardiovascular and respiratory disease.
Chioma Ihekweazu, B.S., MPH, Ph.D.
Battelle Memorial Institute
Project Co-Principal Investigator
Dr. Ihekweazu’s area of expertise is in health communication and social marketing. She has served on interdisciplinary research teams leading qualitative data collection and developing campaign and outreach materials on topics including nutrition, physical activity, screen time, environmental regulations, and HPV vaccination. She has led or provided technical support on nationally funded grants and federal contracts with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institutes of Health.
Tanya Maslak, B.S., MPH
Battelle Memorial Institute
Project Co-Investigator
Ms. Maslak’s is experienced in interagency coordination, planning and managing stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building activities with a focus on public health and environmental management. She has led or provided technical support for projects with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Robert Lordo, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.
Battelle Memorial Institute
Project Co-Investigator
Dr. Robert Lordo is a statistician and project manager, primarily supporting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He has led or provided technical support for studies assessing environmental-related exposures and risks to human health. Dr. Lordo has also managed projects to implement and assess innovative survey data collection and analysis techniques to make national surveys more resource efficient and to improve coverage.
Adrienne Cocci, B.S., MPH
Battelle Memorial Institute
Project Co-Investigator
Ms. Cocci is experienced in qualitative research and program evaluation, including projects in mixed-methods evaluation, survey methods, needs assessments, and literature reviews. She has led or provided technical support for projects with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Luke P. Naeher, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.
The University of Georgia College of Public Health, Department of Environmental Health Science
Project Co-Investigator
Dr. Naeher is trained in human exposure assessment to environmental chemicals and environmental epidemiology. He has spent much of his career characterizing occupational exposures of forest firefighters and personal exposures of women and children in homes in the developing world where unvented biomass-fueled stoves are used for cooking and heating, and investigating the effects in these populations on various physiological responses, including lung function and inflammation. He currently serves as a co-investigator on The Household Air Pollution Intervention Network (HAPIN) Trial, an international multi-center study, and recently served as a joint primary investigator on a National Institutes of Health Fogarty Regional GEO Health Hub Centered in Peru.
Anna Adetona, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.
Battelle Memorial Institute
Project Key Personnel
Dr. Anna M. Adetona is a toxicologist with an environmental health science background. Her research experience includes projects characterizing wildland fire smoke exposure and health impacts among wildland firefighters and assessing smoke exposure from residential combustion of solid biomass fuel among pregnant women in Peru. She has led or provided technical support on several U.S. Environmental Protection Agency contracts.
Stephanie Zias, B.S.
