Center staff are passionate about public health and improving the health and well-being of communities. Programs and services are designed to increase the skills of public health practitioners and to build the capacity of the organizations where they work. Included among our areas of expertise are workforce and organizational development, adult learning, group facilitation and process design, and project management. To meet us click here.
Our work is funded through grants and fee-for-service initiatives. We have been part of the Public Health Training Collaborative (PHTC) network for nearly two decades and will continue under the direction of the new Center, the University of Michigan School of Public Health. The focus areas for the Region V Great Lakes PHTC will also shift from environmental public health to behavioral health (mental health and opioid misuse), health equity, rural health, and tribal health.
The Center also serves as the administrator for the Ohio Local Public Health Accreditaiton Support Project, working directly with Ohio’s Local Health Departments (LHDs) to ensure agencies have the tools and training to successfully complete accreditation requirements, as well as resources for understanding and pursuing shared services agreements.
