Our mission is to gain knowledge on how circuits of the prefrontal cortex regulate emotional and cognitive functions throughout the lifespan. We also aim at understanding factors that can alter these circuits, and their implications in neuropsychiatric and neurological diseases. To this goal we use a multidisciplinary approach in mice, including complex behavioral assays, molecular and pharmacological techniques, and sophisticated genetic manipulations, such as inducible-knockout mice, and the novel chemogenetics DREADD cutting-edge technology.
