Final Week at The Perennial Homestead 8/16/2021

Today was my last meeting with Ali at The Homestead. I wrapped up with a final project sharing site analytics, hero banner examples, and ideas for more site visits into sales for future reference for their brand! I have loved working with Ali this summer and have learned so much about running your own agricultural business and the importance of sustainable farming, sourcing local, and fair-trade practices. I hope to do similar work in my career and can’t wait to take the skills gained from this experience to the next steps in my life.

This week at the Perennial Homestead 7/31/21

This week, I began to work on my second blog post which is a story about how we sourced ingredients for the PH’s take on their “everything but the bagel” seasoning mix that will be released this fall! An interesting aspect about this blend is that all of the ingredients are intentionally sourced from the Midwest! This week, I have also started brainstorming potential names for the product as well as dried citrus zest sources from sustainable, small-scale, domestic farmers for their next seasoning blends (lemon/orange, thyme, basil seasoning salts). This was been so much fun and I can’t wait to continue on with these projects!

This week, I have started working on an introduction post for my first blog to upload to the PH instagram and have continued to small-scale, domestic source chia seeds, black sesame seeds, and flax seeds option for their new “everything bagel” mix (an original name is still in the works). So far, this internship has taught me patience, consistency, and most importantly the pros of shopping local, sustainable, and small-scale.

This week, I focused on finalizing my blog post for my peach toast idea. This toast features two of Ali’s products from her store and is also the perfect dish for the summertime. After I finish drafting this recipe I will photograph the finished toasts and post them to the blog as well! As this experience begins to wrap up, I realize how much I have learned and taken away from working with The Perennial Homestead.

This week, I focused on sourcing potential products for the homestead such as sesame seeds and chia seeds. Ali is determined to shape her brand around products that are sourced in the USA, so that has been my task for this week; finding domestic farmers, vendors, and wholesale items. I also worked on my first blog post which was a piece on quick summer meals! I am nearly halfway done with this experience and all of it has been such a blast!

This week, I worked on blog post ideas, paper packaging tape and stickers research, new products to consider, and worked with Ali to develop future goals for the rest of this experience. Ali sent me products to test (chive herb salt and mulling spice) and it has just been such a fun experience overall!

This week, I worked on finalizing design templates for blue monochrome designs for thank you cards and stickers and researched 4 oz. grinder lids for their herb and single salts. I also worked with Ali to finalize design icons and assist in the “hand-drawn” style that the homestead is striving to produce. I looked into the back-end of the website to add icons and product descriptors and had so much fun doing so! I have loved every minute of this experience.

The Perennial Homestead Experience 6/13/21

This week, I designed and sourced icons to associate with their store products (vegan, PH sourced, homegrown, etc.) I also worked on a few sticker ideas for their merchandise and shared with Ali what I have developed so far with Adobe software. I did more research for more eco-friendly and sustainable packaging options for their spice blends and refined their seasonal recipe templates and did photo research for sans-meat options! It has been a very fun, busy, and eventful week!

This week, I have been working on recipe ideas and templates for each season. I am also working on sticker designs. thank you cards, and sourcing more eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging.. I also drafted an “intro post” for new followers and planned an upcoming giveaway and selected items from their store to send with the giveaway box! This has been such an amazing experience so far and I can’t wait for what is ahead at The Perennial Homestead.

This week interning at The Perennial Homestead 5/30/21

This week, I have worked on finalizing the content calendar template and transporting it to a google calendar! I have also started to brainstorm ideas for new recipe cards, thank you cards, sticker ideas, and more. Ali and Scott shoot for a very hand drawn, natural aesthetic and that is exactly what I am trying to accomplish in my designs. I’m super stoked to see what is in store in the future of this experience and what other projects I will be working on!
