Science Comes to Life at Ohio State’s Stone Lab

Don’t let the cold outside fool you; now is the time for your students to apply for summer classes at Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie. Stone Lab classes let students spend one day, one week or five weeks getting up-close with Great Lakes animal and plant life while living on a Lake Erie island.


Introductory Courses: Students in any major can take these hands-on science courses (2 credits).
Upper-Level Courses: Science majors can explore their interests in-depth (up to 4 credits).
Courses for Education Majors: Future teachers fill their teaching toolboxes (2 credits).
Non-Credit workshops: Resume-building workshops enhance career prospects.

Scholarships and part-time jobs are available.

Like summer and research? Apply for research funding for summer 2016

Summer undergraduate research funding available

Apply mid-February and cat_and_dog_in_library[1]you could receive funds to pursue research over the summer. Not sure what research is or how to get started? Talk to your professor about any topics  in their field you’d like to investigate, or ask them if they have projects you could help with. Use the application below to apply for any of a number of grants, from the Undergraduate Research Office, Departments of Psychology and Economics, Natural and Mathematical Sciences, and (new) University Libraries. The joint application can also be used to apply for the Holbrook Research Abroad Fellowship, for conducting research outside the country. The deadline is Monday (2/15) but consult now with your professor so you’ll have what you need to apply. Contact me (cope.38) if you have any questions.
