Volunteers needed; sign-up deadline today

From Kim Barton, this urgent request. If you can volunteer on Oct 11 or 12, contact Kim (and feel free to comment here so I know about your good work)

We are still in need of volunteers to help with A Brush For Kindness in Mount Vernon the weekend of October 11th and 12th.  Even if you can only volunteer for one day, we would be very grateful for your help.  Our team’s registration is due tomorrow, so please let me know ASAP if you’d like to spend a few hours of your free time making a tremendous difference in the lives of others.  The details are listed below …

Ariel Foundation—one of COTC and Ohio State Newark’s very important donors—is sponsoring a wonderful volunteer opportunity the weekend of October 11th and 12th.  Habitat For Humanity has a new program called A Brush With Kindness that works on qualified existing homes, and six homes in Mount Vernon’s Columbus Road neighborhood have been designated for this upcoming project.  All job duties will be exterior, and will include painting, basic carpentry, yard work, landscaping, and clean-up.  Carpentry skills are welcome, but certainly not required.  A kickoff breakfast and lunch will be provided Saturday, and water and snacks will be provided both days.

It is my hope that we can organize a team of at least 12 COTC and Ohio State Newark volunteers to show our appreciation for Ariel’s continued (and extremely generous) support of our institutions.  Spouses/significant others are welcome to participate, and all campus employees who volunteer for the weekend will receive a special token of thanks from the Development Office.  Our team’s registration needs to be completed by next Friday, September 19th, so please let me know as soon as possible if you’re willing to join me in this fun, community-building endeavor.
