Note: Current Ohio State employees should use the internal applicant system in Workday.
What does an IRB protocol analyst do?
Although it’s hard to describe a “typical day,” core IRB protocol analyst activities include:
- Submission screening: checking researchers’ submissions for completeness, consistency, and general regulatory requirements before they are sent for IRB review
- Advising/communicating with investigators and research teams through our electronic IRB submission system (Buck-IRB), via email, and over the phone
- Preparing submission documents for IRB review
- Communicating the IRB’s determinations and requests for additional information to research teams
