- If students have coursework from an institution that is not regionally accredited but still accredited through a recognized professional accrediting body, such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, credit by validation may be evaluated for potential credit at Ohio State.
- Credit by validation does not happen automatically. If you believe you have credit eligible for evaluation through this process, please contact your academic advisor at con-advising@osu.edu. For more information, please visit Credit by Validation – The Ohio State University or contact your academic advisor.
- Only nursing courses are eligible for evaluation through the College of Nursing’s Credit by Validation process.
- If a student has transfer coursework from a non-nursing subject area that is eligible for the credit by validation process, (e.g. business courses), the student should contact the corresponding Transfer Credit Coordinator. Please refer to the sections about special, general and technical credit for more guidance.
- Unless a course has been previously evaluated and has been approved for OSU transfer credit, courses from a non-regionally accredited institution will not be added to a student’s advising report or transfer credit report until the coursework is evaluated by the appropriate department and a credit determination has been made.
