For this week, I choose to stay away from purchasing paper cups/plastic bottles, eating leftover food before the semester is over, and being vegetarian. This past week, I only bought two paper cups – one from McDonald’s and the RPAC. That is an improvement in comparison to the past two weeks. I also ate my leftover chicken nuggets this past week because I forgot about trying to cut out meat. I only ate meat three times this past week: McDonald’s chicken nuggets, Blaze Pizza, and frozen chicken nuggets. I’ve learned that it is actually hard to cut out meat almost cold turkey. I’ve also so learned that I don’t believe I feel strongly enough to be vegetarian. Although I do care about the environment, I personally don’t believe that I’ll be able to stop eating meat. I don’t think I will be able to push myself to get the nutrients I need on a daily basis, which I know I don’t now. So if I were to cut meat out completely, I would really be behind on my daily nutrients. Finally, next week will be very easy for me. I usually take short showers, and by cutting back shower time, it can really make a difference in my water usage. Plus, this is something I can make a habit and do this for the rest of my life. Finally, I think I defiantly saving money on not purchasing paper cups/plastic bottles because I am not going out out of my way to purchase. Although, I know I would have saved money if I would have actually stuck to being vegetarian this past week.
