An introduction to intergenerational programs

Many who are most vulnerable in our society tend to fall on both ends of the age brackets; for children and for the elderly, daily barriers can make life much harder than it needs to be. Childcare in the US is lacking, and with a rapidly growing elderly population elder care is becoming more important than ever before.

This site is intended to be a resource for anyone who lands here. This is a place where you can learn about the walls that exist between us and high quality child and elder care, and how intergenerational programs can help alleviate some of these problems.

These programs do not exist in a vacuum. To work, they need involvement, involvement from community partners, and involvement from interested individuals like you. Intergenerational programming is based on the idea of connection; connection between people is the ultimate tool which builds empathy, respect, and care for these individuals.

On these pages you will learn more, but for a brief introduction, please watch this wonderful TEDx talk done by Evan Briggs.
