The top 3 wine consuming states in the U.S. are the District of Columbia, New Hampshire and Vermont. Wine consumption among Americans as a whole has become very popular, reaching an estimated 856 million total gallons in 2012 and 892 million gallons total in 2013. This correlates to about 2.73 gallons of total wine per resident in 2012 and 2.82 gallons total per resident in 2013.

As for California produced wine specifically an estimated $23.1 billion US dollars worth of wine was sold within the United State in 2013, which is up 5% from the previous years. For both the domestic and international markets California wine sales increased by 3% in 2013. Roughly 90% of the wine exported from the United States to consumers is California wine with estimated revenue of $1.55 billion US dollars.
