Local Food Favorites

Columbus is often referred to as a foodie city.  While there is good food everywhere, here is a list of some of the best local favorites with a few recommendations on what to get.:

harvest pizza

Aab India*–Regularly rated the best Indian food in Columbus!

El Arepazo–Columbian and Venezuelan food in an alley downtown (they only serve lunch).  This is consistently one of the top restaurants in Columbus.

Harvest Pizzeria*–Next level pizza.  A little on the expensive side, but worth it!

Katalina’s Cafe*–“Homemade food with attitude…Latin-leaning and Southern slanted… Filled with friends & flavor galore, Katalina’s is Home of The Original Pancake Balls™ and so much more!”

Katzinger’s Deli*–Epic Jewish Deli in German Village.  Their reuben is amazing, as is the veggie version (the MushReuben)!

Lavash Cafe*–Mediterranean food of your dreams.  Recommendations: baba ghanoush, yellow rice, lentil stew, kebab.  Lavash is on High street, a short ride north on the #2

The North Market–Lots of different places to eat and several grocery-like shops as well.  This is the only public market in the city and it’s a must!  The downtown location is the closest to campus.

Northstar Cafe*–A Columbus institution.  They source lots of their food locally, but charge a bit more than everyone is comfortable with.

Portia’s Cafe*–Vegan and raw food only.  Try the non-dairy cheesecake!

Tasi*– Ideal brunch spot in Italian Village, just East of the Short North and a quick bus ride south on the #2.

The Thurman Cafe–It’s a drive, but the thurminator has it’s own episode on Man vs Food.

Woodhouse Vegan Cafe*–Amazing vegan food!  Their creative menu is regularly changing with new, fun flavors.  You won’t want to skip dessert here either!
