We are an interdisciplinary team of researchers committed to working with our community partners to find solutions to complex problems in health and human service systems.
Our work together focuses on improving coordination and quality at the intersection of child welfare and behavioral health systems. Our active studies are set in the context of Ohio START (Sobriety, Treatment, and Reducing Trauma) in partnership with the Public Children Services Association of Ohio (PCSAO).
Ohio START is a promising child welfare model that helps families who come into the child welfare system because of substance misuse problems. Through quick screening, intensive casework, support from a family peer mentor, and collaborative case planning across child welfare and behavioral health systems, Ohio START can expedite parents’ access to treatment, recovery, and family well-being.
