Israel Responds to Jihadist Attacks With Strikes Against Militant Targets

Following the death of a Jihadist operative, who was intending to plant bombs across the Gaza Strip/Israeli border, Islamic militants, on February 23rd launched 21 rockets into Southern Israel, aiming for areas populated by civilians. During the strike, the majority of the rockets were intercepted by Israeli Defense Forces, however some did manage to touch down resulting in the mild injuries of two people from Kibbutz Nir-Am, who were struck with fallen debris, and damage to a vehicle on the ground. In the aftermath of this attack, Israel has launched targeted rocket strikes back into the Syrian and Gaza Strip areas, aiming to take down weapons facilities associated with the instigating strikes. There remains much contention over the origin of these attacks, as there always does seem to be, and this does not seem to be settling any time soon. In the mean time, President Netanyahu has scheduled several national security-related meetings in the near future that may determine the course of future actions.
