Jillian’s selection indicates the committee’s confidence in her ability to complete a significant research project as a prelude to her post-graduate studies and career.

New eBulletin on Raising and Educating Deaf Children
Dr. Castellanos has written a new eBulletin for Oxford University Press about Deaf Children’s Joint Attention in Social Interactions.
The eBulletin is published and freely accessible on the Raising and Educating Deaf Children: Foundations for Policy, Practice, and Outcomes website. This dedicated website seeks to provide objective, evidence-based information for policy-making and practice associated with raising and educating deaf children, with an eye to improving them.

ology has selected her article, “Early Expressive Language Skills Predict Long-Term Neurocognitive Outcomes in Cochlear Implant Users: Evidence From the MacArthur–Bates Communicative Development Inventories,” as the winner of the 2016 Editor’s Award. An Editor’s Award is truly a high honor, with selection limited to the most impactful works that meet the highest quality standards in research design and presentation.
New Lab Member
We are excited to announce that Natalie Safdar has joined the lab as a new Graduate Research Associate. Natalie will be beginning her Doctor of Audiology (AuD) studies at The Ohio State University in the fall term.
COSM Conference
Dr. Castellanos and Dr. Moberly’s medical student, Tirth Patel, is presenting a poster titled, “Self-reported executive functioning and sentence recognition skills in postlingually deafened adult CI users,” at the Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meetings in San Diego, California on April 26th.
