Hey Buckeyes!
Welcome to my e-Portfolio! I’m Savannah, and I’m currently a freshman at Ohio State. Before I tell you all about what I’ll be doing at OSU, let me give you a little background on who I am and how I spend my time.
I grew up in Maineville, a very tiny town about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati and about 10 minutes away from Kings Island. I took a lot of AP and honors classes in high school (I’m always up for a good challenge!) and packed my schedule with science and math courses. Outside of the normal school day, I tried to involve myself in as many extracurriculars as possible. I spent virtually all of my time at marching band practices and National Honor Society meetings, and I served as president of both groups during my Senior year. I was also a member of Diversity Club, symphonic band, jazz band, Spanish Club, and student government. I’m used to being pretty busy, but I like to spend whatever free time I can find doing Jazzercise, taking yoga classes, and watching my favorite shows on Netflix. I also enjoy reading, hiking, painting, and taking long walks on the beach.
Alright, on to the good stuff! As of right now I’m set to be a chemical engineering major, and I’m heavily considering a humanitarian engineering minor. In addition to being in the honors program, I’m a Morrill Scholar and I’m hoping to be an active member of MUNDO. There are so many things to look forward to as a new Buckeye, but what piques my interest the most are all of the possibilities for research! I want to start my research work as soon as possible, and I’m so excited to be working along side some of the best minds in the field. Times spent in the lab were definitely the highlights of my high school career, and I can’t wait to be working in the amazing facilities on OSU’s campus.
After I finish four years at Ohio State, I’ll most likely continue my adventures in academia and go to graduate school. My goal is to be an expert in my field so that I can make the most meaningful contributions possible to the world of science. I think grad school will provide me with even more opportunities to further my understanding and knowledge of chemistry, as well as more time to make meaningful connections and network with peers and faculty. I’m eager to get going with my career, but I’m definitely going to enjoy my time here at OSU. It’s a great day to be a Buckeye! O-H!
