Established in February 2019, with gifts from Qian Shan Kuo, this scholarship is awarded to students majoring in computer science.
Shan was born in Nanjing, China in 1922. He graduated from National Chung-Chen University in China in 1944. He came to the United States as a graduate student and earned a master’s in civil engineering from Ohio State in 1948. He earned additional graduate degrees from Harvard and Yale before spending the rest of his career as a professor at the University of New Hampshire, Department of Computer Science. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 95. His widow, Qian-Shan still resides in Durham, New Hampshire.
