This scholarship was established in June 2016 by formers students of Lawrence (Larry) Walquist to benefit undergraduate students in the landscape architecture program.

Larry was born in 1931 in Chicago, IL. He played football and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Larry worked for a landscape design firm and later had his own firm. Larry traveled the world designing many resorts, golf courses and the Aon Center in Chicago.
In 1975, he made a career change and moved his family to Columbus, Ohio where he taught Landscape Architecture for over 30 years. In his mid-80s, he created the Master of Landscape Architecture degree program, which he chaired for six years. Larry retired in 2004 as a Professor emeritus at Ohio State.
This endowed scholarship was established to honor Larry’s life-ling commitment to teaching and the impact he had on so many of his students. Larry passed away in 2020 at the age of 91.
