Youngsim Lee Oh established this scholarship in June 2015 in honor of her late husband, Dr. Keytack Henry Oh. It is a renewable scholarship awarded to an incoming freshman enrolled in the College of Engineering with first preference given to students majoring in Integrated Systems Engineering.
Dr. Keytack Henry Oh and Youngsim Lee Oh are both natives of Jeju Island, South Korea, and attended the Ohio State University: Dr. Oh earned a Ph.D. in Industrial Systems Engineering (’74) ,and Mrs. Oh earned an MA in Education (’70). Both Dr. and Mrs. Oh benefitted greatly from generous scholarships throughout their respective educations and made a commitment to pay it forward to empower future generations of students just like themselves. First came a scholarship at the University of Toledo, where Dr. Oh began teaching after earning his PhD.
Unfortunately, Dr. Oh did not have a chance to establish a second scholarship; he passed away in December 2003. Mrs. Oh decided to honor her husband’s legacy by creating the Keytack Henry and Youngsim Lee Oh Engineering Scholarship Fund. Mrs. Oh made the first gift to the fund on March 16, 2015, which would have been Dr. Oh’s 77th birthday. Since its inception, over thirty students have been awarded the Oh Engineering Scholarship.
