Mary Ann cheering on her Buckeyes
Established in September 1975 with gifts from Mary Ann Trapp ’50, used to provide scholarships to students in the Knowlton School.
Not only was Mary Ann a trailblazer for women in architecture in Columbus, but she was also an avid Buckeye football fan. She attended every home game (except for one!) for 89 consecutive seasons. Like her father, Mary Ann attended Ohio State’s School of Engineering, focusing on architecture. Mary Ann enrolled in Ohio State in 1947, a time where architecture was a male- dominated profession and many architecture programs around the country did not admit females.
After graduation, she joined Trapp Construction, her father’s business as the company estimator. She worked with her dad for nearly 30 years before he closed the company. She then joined another Columbus-based architecture firm until her retirement at the age of 88.
