Oh, clinic! What should be our favorite part of school.. After all, it is ALL about our profession.
Faculty: When I see a certain faculty member show up on my schedule, I get very excited. I just know I’m going to have a good day.
Why: She is always positive, encouraging, enthusiastic, and helpful while challenging me to think and apply what I have learned. This instructor always walks into clinic with a smile on her face, which makes me smile. When I ask a question, she helps me find the answer, rather than just telling me. Always positive towards me and my patients, this instructor explains things to me and watches my clinical skills, and gives me small tips that make a huge difference. She is the perfect balance of challenging and helpful, which some instructors lack.
Those smiling instructors are always the best. Even if they are tough, that smile makes you know that they are there to help you. It lessens that intimidation factor, which allows students to work without anymore stress than they already have.
You can tell the the instructor truly loves her job and working with the students by the way she presents herself. Her positive attitude infects the students which is great! I love when you have an instructor that is challenging yet helpful and they are likable!
Lauren I like that you commented on the balance of challenging and helpful. That is hard to master. As an instructor you don’t want to be too helpful and do the work for the students but you don’t want to not help them learn. So your instructor being able to manage that balance is great!
