Hello! My name is Lauren Clar, and I am a second year Honors student at The Ohio State University pursuing a B.S.E. in Computer Science and Engineering. I am also a member of the Eminence Fellows program where I get to strengthen my skills in leadership, academics, service, and engagement in my community through a student led service project.
One of my passions is supporting women in STEM. I started a chapter of an organization called Girls Learn International at my high school where I led volunteer projects in my community to support girls and women, and I got to represent Girls Learn International as a delegate to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. I plan to continue empowering women and girls in STEM as a member of the Society of Women Engineers at OSU.
In addition, I am the community outreach chair and a member of the Spaceport Avionics team for the Buckeye Space Launch Initiative (BSLI) at The Ohio State University. As a member of BSLI this past year, I worked with my team members to test propulsion mixtures for our 30,000 foot apogee rocket, gained my Level 2 rocket certification, and traveled to New Mexico to compete in the Spaceport America Cup.
I am originally from Beachwood, Ohio, a smaller suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, watching Law and Order (SVU and Organized Crime), and playing Mario Kart.
