Project Statement
I wanted to create a poster-like image to show off word I made up. I decided on the concept of the snow globe after I finalized my mashup word and its definition. “Sparklowing” is a term made up of snowing and sparkling to describe how the snow shimmers as it gently falls to the ground. By using a contained area like the globe, I was able to have the word be the main focal point since snow globes are interesting because of what lies inside. I stuck to a loose analogous color palette of greys, white, blue, and purples, because the cool tones are often associated with the snow and ice. For the isometric element I chose to mimic snowflakes with the letters of the word falling from the sky in altering isometric views. By doing this, I was able to achieve the look of the letters settling into the snow. I explored new effects in Illustrator to create transparent letters and easily replicate a bunch of snowflakes. Representing a new word was a challenge but I enjoyed coming up with a visual description of my definition.

Reflection
This is one of the projects I am most proud from my body of work this year. I am so committed to improving my skills in Adobe Illustrator and this project was a great way to do that. I grew confident in using and interpreting the isometric grid using analog techniques as well as digitally. Overall, I think I used some fun effects that make this poster visually interesting like the icy lettering and symmetrical border that makes it all more cohesive. What I know I can improve upon is the correct reflections of light. In some areas, especially the metal plaque on the base of the snow globe, the metal looks realistic with the shading I used but it does not correlate with the same direction of light based on the glare on the glass part of the globe. Aside from that, I am happy with the result and think how I chose to portray my design both accurately reflects my definition and is aesthetically pleasing.
