Alex Cieslinski
Visual Communication Design
Hello! My name is Alex Cieslinski and I am a new student in the design foundations program here at The Ohio State University. I could not be more excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this program and expand on my love and knowledge in all fields of design, while focusing in on my main goal of pursuing a degree in visual communications.
I am from the city of Rochester, New York and I absolutely loved growing up in that area. The community I found there no doubt fostered my interest in the creative realm as my early education was so highly focused on the importance of the arts and personal expression. As I moved into high school I was able to choose my own direction and focused on taking art classes of all varieties because they were genuinely something I enjoyed doing. Ultimately, this is when I knew I wanted to apply my passion into a professional setting and work towards becoming a designer.
I have been a competitive dancer all my life. Dance is just another way to express myself and is something I will have a continuous passion for. Besides that, I am constantly spending time with loved ones, walking my dog, and when I have the chance, traveling.
There is so much about design that exhilarates me and continues to reinforce my decision that this is what I want to spend my life doing. To me, design is the union of functionality and aesthetics that work in harmony to constantly improve the world around us. The satisfaction of creating something that helps to communicate a message is extremely fulfilling to me and I hope to gain the skills to do so effectively. I am curious to see how my view of design evolves through this course and as I articulate my skills, I am anticipating that I will only become more captivated by the process. From this program, I hope to create lifelong connections and truly embrace my love and desire to design.
