Service Engagement

Service Engagement at Ohio State means using ones privileges and opportunities to serve others in less fortunate positions than oneself. I hope to take more opportunities at Ohio State, such as the day of service and working at a local food pantry. By getting more involved with my community, I can meet a wide diversity of people and learn from others experience. This past fall I participated in Ohio State’s day of service and helped clean a community garden that provides food for a food pantry. By cleaning up this garden, the local gardener saved time from weeding and pulling food and could focus on expanding her garden and preparing for the next season of plants. I have also participated in helping a local food pantry. While fellow volunteers and I put together bags, the regular volunteers could help customers and stock shelves. This allowed for the food pantry to run smoother and more customers could be helper.
