SUMMARY: This article illustrates some indeed that Columbus did and argued what good and bad consequence it finally was. It discusses the controversary whether Columbus was a hero or a villain based on his colonization on the new continent.

STATEMENT: Columbus was regarded as a man of extraordinary vision with a defiant attitude to the art of the possible. In the context of the value-system of the society scrutinised at the time, taking the native as slave was not considered as immoral. To some extent, Culture which is not develop is going to shrink and disappear anyway. Columbus was just the one who push that tendency faster, he shall not be the villain who trigger ‘genocide’. Adversely, Columbus even contributed on bringing the culture and technology to the new continent.

SUMMARY: This article demonstrates the cause and process of the voyage of Christopher Columbus. It is kind of different from the other history books that the children read. It discusses about invading and slaving and how Columbus colonizing America. Greedy was the beginning of those ruthless behaviors. There was no heroic adventure, only bloodshed. Columbus Day should not be a celebration.

STATEMENT: Columbus had never been to Asia and he was too confident and insisted that he arrived there. Moreover, he lied to the Court exaggeratedly for more resources for his voyage. He couldn’t achieve what he promised and could only conquest a large amount of slave of Indians instead. A majority of slaves died in captivity and they were killed unreasonably and inhumanity. Columbus Day is miserable and bleeding for Indians and shall not deserve celebrating

SUMMARY: Argues that if the discovery of American really deserve celebrate or not. The new continent found by Columbus lead to the invasion which was a catastrophe for Indians but a development and trend for the modern world. Slavery was common during this time due to the large demand of slaves. Does the invasion only count on Columbus who discovered the new land?

STATEMENT: Columbus could be the major person who triggered the invasion directly and he was not a virtuous person apparently. However, the social institution influent that a lot because people were divided by hierarchy at that time and they were racist to some extent. In addition, based on the natural selection, it is how the modern world works. To reject Columbus is in effect to reject the modern world.
