About Me

As a junior at Ohio State, I am pursuing a major in Biomedical Science with the goal of becoming a physician after my undergraduate studies. My hometown is a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, therefore have been a Buckeye for my whole life. Moving forward in college, I intend to take advantage of opportunities and meet members of the diverse student body that attends Ohio State. This campus has a plethora of resources and experiences which I hope to encounter in the next year.

My academic passions are science and the study of health and society. I plan to complete my four year undergraduate program in Biomedical Science and continue onto a research medical school, with a residency in fetal surgery. With an additional interest in the interaction of medicine and the public, I hope to also earn a minor in Medical Humanities and Medical Pharmacology.

My passions include the promotion of maternal health and global healthcare disparities. In high school, I completed a service trip to India to work with a local physician in a rural setting, observing and aiding in a clinic. I aim to continue this service trip as well as participate in others such as Doctors Without Borders in college. Apart from service trips, I am also involved in 4Paws for Ability, captain of the Biomedical Science Buckeyethon team and volunteer at The James Cancer Institute. I am also co-founder of The SOAR Initiative, which works on projects to combat the opioid crisis in central Ohio.

My undergraduate research ventures are conducted at Dr. Emily Patterson’s systems engineering laboratory in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The lab works on many different human factors projects, and the current project focuses on finding solutions to contributing factors to maternal mortality in hospitals. My goal is to incorporate knowledge gained in the hard sciences from lab and classwork with experiences in humanities from the Eminence Fellows class project with housing initiatives and service trips, such as a Buck-I-Serv trip to D.C and become a compassionate and high achieving physician that can contribute to local and global healthcare.
