Artifacts

Throughout high school, especially my senior year when I took a government and politics class, I have been more informed about politics and current events around the world. During the fall semester, American politics was definitely a heavily talked about topic. In October, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton came to Ohio State to talk to the students. I was fortunate enough to attend the rally and hear what she had to say. Her speech was very insightful and encouraging to us college students. A month later on November 8th, 2016 I had the chance to vote for the first time, not only was it my first time voting but it was for the president election. It was an experience that I will never forget, waking up early and walking to the Union with friends to cast my first ballot. This sticker represents that day of voting but also the privilege I have of voting. It is not something that should be taken advantage of, given our country’s history. This sticker still hangs on my bulletin board in my room and reminds me of the great things I have in life that I should not take advantage of.

About Me

Hi, my name is Bethia Chin and I am a first year Fisher Direct student and business scholar, specializing in marketing.

Throughout high school I was able to see the importance in academics and involving myself with activities I have a passion for.  Besides taking course that challenged me, I was involved in many clubs and activities including varsity cross country, marching band, Spanish Club, and National Honor Society.  Since I was so involved in high school, I knew transitioning into college I wanted to do the same.  During the fall semester, I joined the Undergraduate Women’s Business Association, where I cultivated knowledge of women leadership in business through networking with professionals.  I then was accepted into one of two Ohio State sophomore class honoraries, Mirrors.  Service is one of my biggest passions in life.  Through Mirrors, I will be surrounded by people who enjoy to serve others and at the same time develop as a better person.  Mirrors gives me the chance to volunteer at the James Cancer Research Hospital as well as do service projects with the patients.

I look forward to what is to come within my next four years at Ohio State.  I hope to gain the professional experience and leadership development to succeed in my future endeavors.  I am excited to form relationships and connections with people for the rest of my life.
