module 6: Searching and Researching Blog Post

The most useful thing that I learn from this module is that I need to consider the reliability, quality, and utility when I use the resource for my academic paper. In the past, I only consider about the reliability, but now I know that I also must consider whether the resource is well construction and has enough details.

The thing from this module that I already put into practice is that I use google scholar search resources for my academic paper. For example, I write about the topic of patriarchy in The Walking Dead this semester in my English 1110.01, and I can easily find the resources by just type in patriarchy in “The Walking Dead”, and there will be some good resources show up.

The idea I can put into practice in the future is I can type in a subtopic or restrict when I search a website. For example, if I just type in “how dose alcohol affect brain”, I can get a lot of results but probably hard to find a website that satisfied my expectations. However, I can type in “the experiment that shows how dose alcohol affect brain” so that I will get more academical results.

I suggest when students searching for resources, they can put double quotes around the subtitle. For instance, if I just type patriarchy in The Walking Dead, I will get many TV reviews. Nevertheless, it is better to type patriarchy in “The Walking Dead”. Thus, you will find that the result is more relevant the patriarchy in TWD this show but not reviews.
