The final one

Ah, however, that flower one is not worked. Professor said that it has lose too much details when combining that.

This time is the final one. So I choose the rice as my small particles to consist the skin.

This is my sketch:

And these four are the individual objects I’m going to combine together:

And these are the final views:

Project 4– first time thinking.

First time, I was thinking about the skulls and the scriptures on that.

However, after the long talk to the professor, I found that it doesn’t work.

Days after, I’ve thinking about using guns and other “violent things” to create a contract thing with flower.

These two are the sketch

These two are the combination at first.

This one is the first edition? the front side. The back side

Project 4-Research

Lucas Samaras, an American Artist

(Box. 86)

  • whole covering with the very small different particles. And one kind inside, one other kind outside.
  • Like always, “exploring figurative and geometrical forms in rich colors and with luxuriant texture, characteristics that would reoccur throughout his work”
    • the figurative and geometrical forms for the simple open box. (each has different open angle)
    • rich colors inside
    • luxuriant texture consist by two different small particles.
  • the light of the photo, the reflection of light by the texture creates a perfect scene.

Sarah Lucas, Unmasked: From Perverse to Profound - The New York TimesSarah Lucas-cigarette art (many, this one is “Nature Abhors a Vacuum”, 1998)

  • only one particles to cover the surface–cigarettes
  • all surface particles has lined in one direction, very clear and in order. And all of that follow the shape of the object it covered.
  • covered both inside and outside.  and the rotation of the cigarettes make a wonderful texture.

Le Déjeuner en Fourrure made by artist Meret Oppenheim

勒·朱纳·富尔雷1936

combines the domesticity of the tea set with the eroticism and animality of the fur covering. The tea sets were part of tradition of feminine decorative arts.

  • The use of fur covering made a contract between it and the cup.
  • The meaning behind it is thoughtful.
  • And I very like the textures create by the fur, it’s in order like the cigarette one, smooth and make people wanna touch that.

final work!

This is another one, into the nest, but also inside a “trap” the top is covered with spider web, and inside I use the paper pieces to create a scene that is scary.

Those are the photos taken by “bird trapped into the net”

During the process

I’ve used paper and glue to make the body structure and bones…?

Then I covered it up with toiled paper to make more smooth, more easier to get color on and more like the small feathers.

Then I colored them with acrylic paints, and use normal A4 paper to do the wings (long piece) and body (mosaic type).

Finally, I get my thoughts

Finally, I have my thought

I’m major in the Environment Science, so I have seen some pictures of birds trapping in the nests of those farmers made to protect their own lands.

Like…

  • they struggle so hard in the first, even break their wings,
    •          but few can escape from the net.
  • Lots of them becomes tired and tired, then stop moving, just like a sculpture.
  • Always they are screaming, mouth is opened, and body is twist in an abnormal form.

Otherwise, I’ve search for the other sculptures, like Jatayu made by Indian

  • the beak is opened, like it’s screaming
  • the position of the bird is its belly up, helpless
  • The wings of it are open wide, like it’s struggling all the time.

Then, I’ve found the photos taken by Stephen Gill.

I’ve seen those free birds are so beautiful, their profiles are so natural and gentle

  • Opened wings (so that I think those birds will opened their wings before hits on the net)
  • Compare to the natured and gentle profiles, I think the birds in the net is twist and rigid.
  • Their feathers are lined up in orders, so that I think in the net, their feathers are disordered and messed up.

However……

Professor told me that it’s need to be structural, not just decoration….

So I was thinking about the spider web that trap insects or birds in it

Then I think about in the novel

the dragon egg is trapped in those huge spider’s caves

But….. when I prepared all the materials and halfway to the dragon egg

The professor told me that it can’t show that the egg is in the trap. I realized that…. the egg can’t move, it can’t show how it’s trapped in the spiderweb. Even it looks like the egg of those spiders…

First thought

I was first think about the trap of the internet. Because nowadays people are stuck into the internet, and can’t leave them.

Like the computer is the big mouth that eat people.

In addition, I think that the Catchfly is some kind of like the computers

  • Catchfly absorbs water and some nutrients from the ground. Computer needs power from plugs on the wall.
  • Catchfly can release sweet smells that attract insects to get into the trap, Computers have so many “fun things” on it.
  • Catchfly is dangerous for the insects. Also, there is a lot of “dangerous” things from the internet (Economic fraud, Cyberbully, sexual materials)

                         Compare to…
