It’s that time of year again when our alumni head back to campus to celebrate Ohio State’s Homecoming activities. CFAES is once again hosting our Fallfest Tailgate on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, and would like to invite faculty and staff to attend this annual event.
Tickets are $35 per guest and can be purchased with a personal credit card by phoning the Alumni Association Customer Service Center at 614-292-2281. They are open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registration ends Wednesday, Sept. 26. We are sold out of game tickets, but still have room at the tailgate!
Note – We are moving back to the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center for this year’s event. We hope to see you at the tailgate! Direct any questions to CFAES-events@osu.edu.
Join the CFAES Alumni Society for a unique and fun scholarship fundraiser at Land-Grant Brewing Company to not only network with fellow alums, but also raise money for CFAES scholarships! The event takes place after the Career Expo so we hope to see many out-of-town alumni in attendance as well.

Join your fellow CFAES Buckeye Alumni in helping clean up the Olentangy River with a service project on Sept. 29 with Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW)! During this service event, volunteers will plant trees, clear out invasive species, and more.

The CFAES Alumni Society Board is accepting nominations for the annual CFAEs Alumni Awards. Each year, they honor CFAES alumni and friends with the following honors:
Young Alumni Award
Distinguished Alumni Award
International Alumni Award
Meritorious Service Award (open to alumni and non-alumni candidates)
To read up on the criteria for each award and see a list of past recipients, visit the website. The process is simple and requires a one-page nomination and up to two additional pages of supporting materials such as a resume or letter of support.
Nominations are due Saturday, Oct. 13, and the awards will take place Saturday, March 2. If you have any questions, contact Claire Badger at 614-292-0250 or badger.50@osu.edu.

The CFAES Alumni Society Board is hosting an Ohio State Fair Happy Hour at Fourth Street Bar & Grill (1810 N 4th St, Columbus, Ohio, 43215) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2. Take a break from the fair food, show ring, barn or display booth to join your fellow CFAES Buckeyes for a drink! The more the merrier, so bring along other alums from our college you see on the fair grounds.
Light appetizers will be provided by the CFAES Alumni Society, but drinks will be on your own. RSVP via the Facebook event or by emailing CFAESAlumni@osu.edu.
Lyme disease? Meat allergy? You’ve likely heard that the tick population is high this year and that you need to be vigilant to avoid tick-borne disease. But how exactly do you do so?
Dr. Nicky Gallagher will present on ticks via a webinar for fellow CFAES alumni and friends on Thursday, Aug. 9 from 7 – 7:30 p.m. Dr. Gallagher is an entomologist working for Syngenta. She also serves on the CFAES Alumni Society Board.
The webinar is free, but requires pre-registration. Email CFAESAlumni@osu.edu to reserve your space to learn about tick safety and ask your questions directly to an expert.

The CFAES Alumni Society Board is looking for a 2018 graduate to serve a three-year board term. The board is made up of volunteers who work to provide CFAES alumni with a lifelong connection to the college and to one another. They meet four times a year and plan a variety of activities for alumni.
If you know someone who graduated in May or will graduate this August from CFAES at any degree level, encourage them to send a resume and a why they would like to represent the class of 2018 to cfaesalumni@osu.edu by August 10.
