Excellence in Safety Awards – Nominations Open

The University Laboratory Safety Committee’s “Excellence in Safety” awards recognize a university faculty or staff member (Individual Award), student (Individual Student Award) and a laboratory research group (Group Award) who have made a considerable contribution to improving laboratory safety on the Ohio State campus.

Nominations for 2017 individual, group and individual student awards will be accepted Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Saturday, Jan. 17.

15th Annual CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum – Judges Needed

The CFAES Undergraduate Research Office is excited to announce opportunities for the university community to participate in the 15th Annual CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum! This event will be held on Thursday, March 1 in the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. The CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum will take place from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Faculty members and postdocs from all departments are invited to judge undergraduate research poster presentations at the annual CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum. Judges will be asked to judge three to four student posters.

Graduate students from all departments are invited to judge undergraduate research poster presentations at the annual CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum. Graduate Students will be asked to judge two to three student posters.

  • Lunch will be provided for all student participants, judges and reviewers from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
  • Judging will be from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
  • Awards will be presented at 3:00 p.m.

  • Learn about the different forms of intellectual property (IP) protection available for plant-related inventions in the United States and in large agricultural economies like Europe and Australia;
  • Discover why certain forms of protection are more appropriate than others for particular inventions;
  • Understand effective strategies for the development and commercialization of a global IP portfolio;
  • Hear about recent cases that highlight useful tips and tricks for obtaining broad and enforceable IP protection.
