Attached is this a new “Safety Brief” from OSU Environmental Health and Safety. This safety brief discusses fall protection and emphasizes a fall protection system using a full body harness. There are some instances that we do use this type of system. However, keep in mind, there are other ways to implement fall protection in the workplace for elevated work surfaces over 4 feet. This includes using railings, guarding, or coverings for elevated surfaces, floor openings, stairs, platforms, and fixed ladders. Many of these we already have installed or implemented throughout our CFAES facilities to help prevent falls.
If you have any questions about fall protection and elevated work areas, feel free to contact me.
