Buckeyes ACT

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Sexual misconduct and relationship violence are of deep concern to us all. Today, Ohio State is announcing a comprehensive plan to combat these issues called Buckeyes ACT (Action, Counseling, Training).

Buckeyes ACT combines policies and programs developed over the last year with a robust set of existing initiatives — and includes a task force of students, staff and faculty to identify best practices and explore innovative approaches in this important area.

We are one of 27 universities across the nation that participated in the Association of American Universities’ campus climate survey on sexual assault and sexual misconduct this past spring. Results are expected soon and will help to inform and enhance Buckeyes ACT moving forward.

I encourage you to visit the Buckeyes ACT webpage to learn more about the many resources available.

This announcement is in conjunction with a visit to campus today from Vice President Joe Biden as part of the national It’s On Us campaign to prevent sexual assault. We are honored to welcome the vice president to discuss these issues. We are particularly pleased to focus on our own outstanding students who have been very involved in this initiative since the beginning.

Campuses must be safe places to learn and grow. Ohio State is actively working to prevent and respond to these issues, and we must continue to do more.

I look forward to our ongoing work together on this important effort.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Drake, MD
President
