Accelerator Award Submissions Due – July 30th

Calling all Inventors: Accelerator Award submissions due July 20th
The Accelerator Awards provide Ohio State researchers with a small amount of capital to further develop and validate inventions, software, and technologies. A first step in concept development, prototyping, coding, market studies and customer validation efforts are eligible uses for an Accelerator Award. Available to all Ohio State researchers who have disclosed their inventions to the TCO, awards are distributed in amounts up to $50,000 and provide funding for further development and/or validation of inventions. Applications for this round of funding are due July 20th.

The Women’s Place Interim Director Named

Jennifer Beard named interim director of The Women’s Place.

The Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that on July 1 Jennifer Beard began serving as interim director of The Women’s Place, following the retirement of Hazel Morrow-Jones.

Jennifer has served as assistant director of The Women’s Place (TWP), Ohio State’s women’s policy office and agent of culture change, since 2008. Throughout this time, she played an integral role, working closely with the TWP directors to transform the culture and remove institutional barriers for women at Ohio State.

She is responsible for the creation and implementation of various initiatives including women’s leadership development and programs for non-traditional women students. Jennifer is a licensed social worker. Her twenty year career in serving women and children has included clinical research, health promotions, and policy advocacy.

As interim director, Jennifer, along with TWP staff, will ensure that The Women’s Place will continue to work to catalyze change to create an equitable environment in which Ohio State women can thrive.

Please join us in welcoming Jennifer to her new role.

Ohio State Convenes iAGRI’s 2nd Climate Change Conference in Tanzania with International Partners

The Office of International Programs in Agriculture, in Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, collaboratively convened a three-day international conference on climate change and sustainability through the Innovative Agricultural Research Initiative (iAGRI), a Feed the Future Project in Tanzania funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Through iAGRI, Ohio State worked with other international partners, chiefly Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, to convene this conference, which brought together more than 100 scientists and agribusiness experts from around the world.  Read More
