We are interested in investigating and generating cutting-edge teaching practices that advance conceptual understanding, socio-scientific sensemaking, and chemistry identities along diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives. Our work broadly encompasses curriculum design for instructional laboratories, professional development of graduate teaching assistants, and the funds of knowledge both learner and instructor bring into the learning setting. We leverage multiple bodies of work such as science education, learning sciences, teacher education, and game-based learning to enhance the relevance of chemistry knowledge both within and outside of classroom contexts, thereby maximizing world readiness for all.
