New Albany Women’s Network (NAWN) hosts an annual fashion show that makes charitable contributions to local non-profits. At this year’s 16th annual fashion show, I modeled as a representative of a 1girl facilitator. The fashion show took place on the Saturday, November 14th. This year, nearly $20,000 of proceeds from the show were donated to 1girl. This fashion show provided a fun way to extending my involvement with 1girl past only working with the girls. It was almost unbelievable getting all dolled up and strutting down a runway wearing clothes that my college budget can certainly not afford. However, the most astounding moment of the show was realizing that the money that this show is raising will all be donated to 1girl. That support is unquantifiable in terms of the impact it will have on the underserved girls that we are trying to reach. While I may not know exactly what my future holds, I am pretty confident that 1girl may be one of the most profound ways I have invested my time.
