OHIO – UBWA Executive Board
Intercollegiate Business Convention (IBC) is a yearly conference in Boston, MA that is hosted by Harvard’s Undergraduate Women in Business. Each year it brings together women in business across the world to look into various ways to promote women in leadership. At the 2014 IBC, we heard from Maureen Chiquet, the CEO of Coco Chanel, Lindsey Scott,Victoria Secret Model and Coder, and Jill Abramson, a well renowned author and journalist.
This convention taught me a lot about what is outside of the Big10 bubble. Prior to this convention I hadn’t experienced any adversity, competition, or questioning. Following this convention I was able to learn from the speakers as well as myself in order to be a better competitor on a global scale.

It was also an amazing opportunity to get to know the other members of the UBWA’s exec. board a bit better. The convention challenged me to find new ways to emulate similar experiences to all of our members in order to make the OSU UBWA experience the best possible. Just getting to speak with Lindsey for a few moments gave me a few great ideas of ways to use my programming capabilities more effectively in my position as VP of Web Design and Social Media. After playing around with the website I was able to make a blog feature that could share the various perspectives of the fellow exec. board members.
