BuckeyeThon 2015

Buckeyethon is a 24-hour dance marathon to support children treated in the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I have participated in Buckeyethon every year that I have attended this fine institution. I can’t recall a single moment I have been more honored or proud to be a Buckeye (not even when we became Undisputed Champions in January) than the final reveal of the monetary impact of Buckeyethon each year.

In preparation for each dance marathon, I worked on the Buckeyethon Planning Committee for the Undergraduate Business Women’s Associate BT Dance Team. Last year alone, we have collectively raised over $8,000. In order to achieve such high goals we invest countless hours into fundraisers like donut sales, Thirty-One Gift Sales, and canning year round.

Whenever I think about the impact I am able to make on such a worthy cause, I am overwhelmed with gratitude from all the support that not only Ohio State has to offer, but the entire Columbus community. Buckeyethon is such a wonderful, humbling experience. Each year, I am blown away by how much I can learn from people twice as stronger as me, but half my age. It has taught me a lot about struggle, intrapersonal connection, and perseverance. I thoroughly believe I will bring that wherever I go after my time here at The Ohio state University.
