Analytical Laboratory Summer Technician Internship

Owens Corning’s Granville Science & Technology is hiring a Sumer Intern to work in The Corporate Analytical Lab. This position will include routine and non-routine sample preparation for instrumental analysis, commitment to safety protocols, following detailed procedures, and communication results.

Desired skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Diverse experience with analytical instrumentation
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals
  • Attention to detail while performing repetitive work
  • Ability to quickly learn instrument specific software

Minimum requirements include 2 years of college course work in a hard science (Chemistry or Materials/Mechanical Engineering preferred) and experience working in a chemical laboratory.

WUSM BMB Summer Research Program

There is Summer Undergraduate Research Program that will be offered this summer in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics at Washington University in St. Louis.

No prior research experience is required. Even if you aren’t really sure what “doing research” means, this program might be for you! One of the goals of the program is to help students engage in academic research in a supportive environment to see if scientific research might be of interest to them after college.

This research program…

  • is 8 weeks (June 6th – July 29th, 2022)
  • provides workshops for students to attend that focus on several important aspects of science
  • has a range of research areas
  • includes travel to Saint Louis, housing, local travel, a meal plan, and an additional monthly stipend of $2000

OSUCCC – The James: Summer Volunteers

The James Cancer Hospital is accepting applications for summer student volunteers. Applications will be accepted through Sunday, April 3.

College volunteers are required to volunteer a minimum of one two-hour shift per week. Most volunteer positions are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., with limited weekend opportunities.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and in the process of obtaining a two- or four-year degree.

If you are selected to attend the interview session on Wednesday, April 13, you will need to bring a letter of recommendation from a teacher, advisor, or work supervisor.

Chemistry Stockroom Manager

Indiana State University is seeking to hire a Chemistry Stockroom Manager with a desired start date this summer. The stockroom manager will be responsible for the chemistry stockroom and for preparations for undergraduate chemistry laboratory courses.

  • Responsibility for safe handling, safety/hazard labeling, and storage of chemicals, reagents, solvents, and compressed gases, for disposal of all chemical waste, and for maintaining library of Safety Data Sheets

Bioprocessing Research Internship

Sarepta Therapeutics is accepting applications for a bioprocessing research internship. This summer internship in downstream process development will give insight into the production process for complex biomolecules (e.g., adeno-associated virus) along with hands-on production experience using bioprocessing techniques, including bioreactors, depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, and fast protein liquid chromatography.

Interns will not only have the opportunity to interact with the downstream team, but also the upstream and analytical development teams to learn how drug products are developed safely, cost-effectively, and efficiently from lab scale to commercial scale.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist downstream scientists in the design, preparation, and execution of process development experiments
  • Work independently on a research project (selected by the mentor) aimed at optimizing a select unit operation within the downstream process for AAV production 
  • Participate in weekly process development meetings

Desired Education and Skills: 

  • Undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, or bioengineering
  • At least two semesters of laboratory course experience  

This position is hybrid and will require work on-site at one of Serepta’s facilities in the United States.

Applications for CRISSP (CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) Research Institute Summer Scholars Program) are now open. University of North Texas Summer 2022 Undergraduate Research Opportunity

The University of North Texas Chemistry Department now has applications open for their summer 2022 NSF-REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) program. Cancer-focused Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Case Western’s Cancer-focused Undergraduate Research (CanSUR) program is now accepting applications. This is a summer, undergraduate program which will give 32 students the opportunity to work with Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (CaseCCC) researchers during a 10 week period.

Department of Energy 2022 Internship Opportunities

Applications for undergraduate internship opportunities with the U.S Department of Energy are currently open for Summer 2022. These include positions such as in the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships program, the Community College Internships program, and the Visiting Faculty Program.

The Science of Undergraduate Laboratory Internships and the Community College Internships will allow you to conduct research and technical projects, under the assistance of laboratory staff scientists and engineers, working on DOE missions in National Laboratories.

The Visiting Faculty Program works to increase research competitiveness of faculty members and their students at historically underrepresented institutions in the research community. This program seeks to help diversify the research workforce and typically has up to 50% of interns representing Minority Serving Institutions.

Summer Internship in CO₂ Reduction

The Department of Energy is supporting a 10-week internship at startups with SBIR Phase II grants. The purpose is to improve the diversity of the research workforce by recruiting and supporting undergraduate and graduate students from underrepresented groups. RenewCO₂ is searching for a candidate to support for the Summer of 2022!

About the company: RenewCO₂ is re-inventing chemical production using CO₂ emissions with a low-cost, high energy-efficiency, and carbon-negative electrochemical process. The company’s eCUT technology converts CO₂ into cost-competitive raw materials for plastics. They enable companies to meet emission reduction targets while producing sustainable materials at a profit.

The summer internship focuses on Research and Development. This position is directed at evaluating the activity of CO₂ electroreduction catalysts and the influence of process conditions on pilot performance. Activities will be performed in person at the company’s laboratory at the Rutgers Busch Campus (Proteomics building) in Piscataway, NJ. Interested individuals should have demonstrated STEM achievement and entrepreneurial interest. Selected candidates will receive a stipend.
