2022 Spring Undergraduate Research Festival

Want to learn from fellow students and hear what they are researching?  Then visit the 2022 Undergraduate Research Festival where over 100 students will be presenting their research! Taking place on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Pomerene TDAI Ideation Zone in 3 sessions, the festival is a great presentation opportunity for students.

This will allow students to gain experience communicating their research in front of a new and diverse audience with a variety of academic backgrounds, as well as create a poster to spark conversations with Festival attendees. This Festival is open to all disciplines and the research presented does not need to be completed to present. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn from the presentation and broaden their knowledge of different topics.

Each session, 9:30-11:30AM, 12-2PM, and 3-5PM, will be structured with the first hour including poster presentations and the second hour being oral slide presentations.

Mid-Atlantic Undergraduate Research Conference

A student organization at Virginia Tech is hosting a national research conference this spring! This conference is open to students of all STEM backgrounds who want to present their research, learn about STEM opportunities, and leave inspired and ready to change the world! The event will include panel sessions, student oral and poster presentations, and catered meals. You can also expect phenomenal keynote speakers such as Kate Biberdorf, Ph.D. (as seen on Stephen Colbert), Daniel Andruczyk, and John S. Iiames, Ph.D.

The conference is a two day event from March 23-24th at Virginia Tech. The deadline to apply has been extended to January 22nd, so don’t wait! For more information please visit the MAURC website.

Summer Research at MIT

The MIT Materials Research Laboratory and the Materials Research Science & Engineering Center sponsor a summer research internship program for rising junior and senior undergraduates in the science and engineering fields.

This challenging program brings promising students to MIT to learn and perform research in laboratories in a broad selection of materials science subfields. In addition to providing a stipend and round-trip travel expenses, we host presentations and group discussions on topics relevant to materials scientists, such as graduate school, careers in materials science, creating effective poster presentations, and management of intellectual property. At the conclusion of the program, the students present their individual research results at a poster session. The summer research internship, offered each year since 1983, affords students an invaluable experience in top-notch cutting edge research.
