Summer REU Program in Marine Science

Applications are open for the Marine Sciences Summer Program at the University of Delaware. This program is for undergraduate students in STEM. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, interns work in a research-intensive atmosphere on a topic in chemical, physical, or biological oceanography or marine biology/geology/ biogeochemistry. Interns will also have the chance to present reports at the end of the program.

This summer program is 10 weeks and will run from Monday, June 6 to Friday, August 12.

This program includes

  • Opportunities to conduct guided research on marine science, weekly research seminars, professional development presentations, and field trips to nearby coastal marine systems
  • A free housing complex for interns with a washer, dryer, AC, and Wi-Fi
  • $6, 500 stipend and travel assistance

Materials Science & Engineering Intern

Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. based in Hilliard, Ohio is currently looking for chemistry majors and other qualified undergraduates for their Materials Science intern position. This internship is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience in the Materials Technology field and work with water and drainage systems.

While working with the Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. interns will help develop next generation plastics to help assist with water handling challenges. This will include working alongside engineers to study materials performance and development.

Specific roles will include:

  • Literature review regarding specific project areas
  • Hands-on lab work processing and testing materials
  • Recording test and lab observations, data interpretation, and present results

Qualifications include, but not limited to:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Communication and analytical skills
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Preferred Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry majors
  • Preferred prior experience working in lab setting with sensitive equipment
  • Graduate or Undergraduate standing with at least two years completed in qualifying majors

2021 Summer Internship and Opportunity Fair

The Summer Internship and Opportunity Fair will take place virtually on Thursday, March 4 from 1-5PM.

 

This will be the 11th year for this fair and while the purpose of the event remains to connect employers with undergraduate students seeking internships, volunteer opportunities, part-time and full-time summer employment, intent going forward is to use this fair as a showcase for organizations that demonstrate inclusive excellence.

Career Success is committed to partnering with organizations that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything they do. These organizations may have been started or consist of many employees that have been underrepresented in the past including men and women of color, people with disabilities, and those in the LGBTQ+ community.

The event will host over 100 employers who are looking to hire Ohio State students of all majors.

Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship

The Sea Grant Knauss Fellowship is a one year paid fellowship that gives graduate students the opportunity to explore national policy decisions that affect ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes resources. This fellowship matches graduate students with hosts in the legislative and executive branches of government in the Washington, D.C. area.

Illumina Internship Opportunities

U.S. Department of Energy Virtual Career Fair

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) is holding a Virtual Career Fair on Thursday, October 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. The event is hosted by Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). This career fair gives undergraduates and recent graduates an opportunity to meet recruiters, scientists, and researchers; learn more about each participating lab; and learn about Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) and Community College Internships (CCI) at a variety of schools.

Franklin International Internship Positions

Franklin International is currently seeking 3 interns, one for engineering and two for chemical lab work. The internship runs from November 1, 2020 until April 30, 2021, with the potential opportunity to stay on for the summer. Minimum pay is $15 per hour and hours are usually during the day Monday through Friday.

2020 Science Career Fair

Tuesday, October 6 from 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm

The Science Career Fair is focused on helping you find an internship, a first job, or your next job! The event is open to ALL current Ohio State students and recent alumni. It will be held virtually on Handshake’s Career Fair platform. Mark your calendar now!

Attending employers recruit across a broad range of disciplines, but the focus will be on careers in The Sciences. There will be a large number of private, non-profit, governmental sector companies recruiting for Interns, R&D developers, chemists, microbiologists, lab technicians & scientists, pharmaceutical researchers & sales, medical consulting & sales, medical researchers, medical scribes, data scientists, software analysts, and many other related technical careers. In addition, there will likely be opportunities for technology, marketing, communications, business, data analytics, and engineering students.

Advanced research via Handshake is recommended to determine if a particular employer of interest will be in attendance. Keep checking back, as employers will be registering all the way up to the event. Attending employers seek to fill full-time, entry-level positions, as well as summer internships.
