Summer 2017 Science Courses and Research Opportunities now being Offered at Ohio State’s Stone Lab!

If you’re thinking about taking science classes this coming summer, consider applying to Stone Lab!

For over 90 years, Stone Lab has served as a fieldstation for Ohio State, allowing thousands to study frestone-lab-image-1shwater biology on Gibraltar Island on Lake Erie. Researchers from all over the Midwest have worked here to understand issues facing the Great Lakes, especially invasive species and toxic algal blooms.

You can become a part of this important team, too! Stone Lab offers 25 college-credit science courses in the fields of biology, geology, and natural resources, in addition to several conferences and educational programs for anyone with an interest in science. Job Opportunities in Ethanol Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security

Green Plains is seeking recent graduates and soon to be graduates in geology, biology, chemistry, environmental, and engineering fields to fill several available positions.

Greens Plains is a vertically-integrated ethanol producer based in Omaha, Nebraska. They currently have 17 plants located in Virginia, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Texas. Green Plains was #8 on FORTUNE 100 Fastest Growing Companies list and continues to expand its operations annually.

They are currently seeking to fill the following positions:

  • EHSS Assistant – This is a management fast-track position for recent college graduates in science and engineering.  The position would initially be based out of one of the following locations: Bluffton, Indiana; Fergus Falls, Minnesota; or Shenandoah, Iowa. There would be a promotion to EHSS Manager within approximately 2 years, at which point you would be relocated. Assistants have seen advancement opportunities as quickly as 6 months after hire. A 3.0 GPA is required.
  • PSM (Process Safety Management) Coordinator – This is a nine month to one year temporary position for recent college graduates in engineering or science background. This is a project based position at one of Green Plains’ Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Virginia, or Minnesota plants.  Employees in this position  work with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs), job shadowing operations and maintenance staff, to complete Standard Operating Procedures, Confined Space Profiles, Electrical Room classifications, etc. Green Plains feels this is an excellent opportunity for graduates who have not had a lot of degree related experience during their college career and are looking to their foot in the door in their career!
  • EHSS/PSM Internship – This is a 3-4 month, summer/winter break position for college students finishing their Junior year and preparing to enter their Senior year. This position is for students in hard science or engineering schools that are looking to gain industrial, hands on experience prior to graduation. These are project based positions at one of Green Plains’ ethanol plants working with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs), job shadowing operations and maintenance staff, completing valve verifications, pipe identification and labeling, and other EHSS projects. Interns may apply by sending resume, letter of interest, and a copy of transcripts to:  careers@gpreinc.com.
