2019 OSU Graduate and Professional School Fair

The College of Arts and Sciences Student Council will host their 10th annual OSU Graduate and Professional School Fair on Wednesday, November 6th. Attendees can speak with admissions representatives from 20+ graduate and professional programs offered at Ohio State, as well as the pre-law and pre-health academic advisors.

Any and all Ohio State students are invited to attend, where they can learn:

  • Why apply to Ohio State for graduate or professional school?
  • What’s involved in applying?
  • What undergraduate courses and programs can help you prepare?

Clean Energy Policy Internship

Interested in Clean Energy? The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is currently accepting applications for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Science, Technology and Policy (STP) Program.

The internship is embedded within the U.S. Clean Energy Education and Empowerment Initiative (C3E) and would allow you to participate in policy-related projects at the DOE’s EERE office in Washington, D. C. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to plan, manage and execute initiative activities, including organizing meetings and collaborations within the agency and with partnering organizations, solicitation of new ideas for how to grow the C3E, as well as new strategic directions and activities.

Interns will receive a competitive stipend for living and other expenses during the program based on academic and professional background, as well as additional benefits of health insurance, relocation expenses, and an education allowance of $10,000 per appointment year to cover travel-related expenses to scientific and professional development activities.

Science Career Fair and Networking Brunch

Are you graduating this academic year or searching for an internship within the science, healthcare, or government industries? Visit the Autumn 2019 Science Career Fair: Adapt Your Future hosted by the Arts and Sciences Career Success. There are 62 different employers attending including the CDC, EPA, and more! Interested in networking further? Before the Career Fair begins, Career Success is hosting a networking brunch for employers and students! This is a unique opportunity to meet and connect with many of the employers that will be tabling at the career fair on a more casual, intimate level. Undergraduate Women in Physical Sciences

The eleventh annual Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physical Sciences (WoPhyS ’19) is coming up soon. All undergraduate students with research interests in all areas of the physical sciences, with focus on physics, chemistry, materials science, nanoscience, optics, photonics, astronomy, and applied physics and engineering are welcome to attend!

WoPhyS ’19 will be held Thursday, November 7 – Saturday, November 9, 2019 on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Some opportunities students will have at the conference:

  • Present research accomplishments
  • Attend keynote talks by scientists from academia, industry, and government labs
  • Participate in graduate school preparation workshops
  • Network with science students and faculty from across the country
  • Tour facilities and labs of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The WoPhyS ’19 steering committee is seeking nominations of outstanding undergraduate researchers to present their research projects and results during invited student talks. Career and Internship Fair Autumn 2019

The Ohio State University’s Autumn 2019 Career and Internship Fair is quickly approaching! The event will occur on Tuesday, Septemeber 17 and Wednesday, September 18 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Ohio Union. There will also be an Interview Day on Thursday, September 19 if applicable.

Join us for our university-wide career fair connecting students across all majors, graduate programs and degree levels with employers seeking to recruit for career employment, internships, and co-ops.

R&D Chemist Position

KDC-One is looking to hire a full-time R&D Chemist for their Columbus team! The position is responsible for laboratory test matching, color-matching, and general laboratory project management practices.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related field is preferred, but an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of experience in an R&D lab will also be considered
  • Able to lift 50lbs
  • SAP experience desired
  • Knowledge of current practices and procedures in an analytical laboratory

Entegris Open Chemist Position

Entegris is a global leader in materials science, and is looking for a B.S. or M.S. level Chemist to join their team in Burnet, TX! Entegris synthesizes and works with high purity chemical vapor deposition precursors for the semiconductor industry; this position would work on a team with experiences such as schlenk line techniques and air-sensitive chemistry. In this role, a candidate will work closely with their Senior Scientist and with other senior team members to support new product development and product release.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry or related field;
  • Previous manufacturing experience;
  • Previous chemical handling experience;
  • Knowledge of inventory management;
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45000;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs;
  • Ability to gain respirator certification and wear proper PPE as required
