Pre-Med Q&A Sessions

The College of Medicine will be offering Q&A sessions to pre-med students to discuss the Medical School Admissions process!

When? Starting September 14th, sessions will be offered the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 8:00 am., and the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm.

Where? Sessions will be located in Meiling Hall Room 221.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity

There is currently a research opportunity in the topics of psychiatry, neuroscience and microbiomes!

Dr. Tamar Gur, of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, is looking for bright, dedicated undergraduates to assist 10 to 20 hours a week in the experiments (academic credit possible). The work is with a mouse model of prenatal stress, looking at the impact in female and male offspring through changes in microbiome and neurobiology. Techniques used in lab include q-PCR, microbiome work, animal behavior, and microscopy.

Students with previous lab experience (including pipetting, handling mice, q-PCR, and animal behavior), and who plan to go to medical or graduate school are preferred.

Qualified students should email Dr. Gur by Thursday, September 15th at tamar.gur@osumc.edu and include a resume.

Arts and Sciences Scholarships and Grants

Applications for  the Autumn 2016 Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Scholarship (URS) competition are now available! The scholarships, which typically range from $500 to $6,000, will be distributed in the Spring Semester of 2017. The funds will automatically go toward the payment of the student recipient’s university tuition and fees. Awards will be announced late November 2016.

Basic Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a major program in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Have attained junior standing
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • Be a potential candidate for graduation with research distinction
    • Be a potential candidate for graduation with honors research distinction
    • Present other evidence of work on a significant research project

Undergraduate Research Opportunity: Otolaryngology

Looking for research opportunities?

The Buckeye Center for Hearing and Development (BCHD) is looking for undergraduate research assistants for the Fall 2016 semester! The BCHD primarily explores questions about speech/language outcomes for children and adults with hearing loss. Visit their webpage to learn more about the BCHD.

Research assistants gain hands-on research experience- collecting data, coding, and brainstorming. Students can also earn course credit for their time in the lab!
