University of Akron Summer Research in Polymer Science and Engineering

We are happy to announce that  2017 summer research experience (REU) program in the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron is open to apply.
 
This competitive REU program are sponsored by the National Science Foundation, The University of Akron, and corporate sponsors. Students will participate in an 11-week internship to investigate a fundamental question within the broad disciplines of polymer science and polymer engineering, including chemistry, physics, engineering, and biomaterials.  These interns will take part in research and career development activities, discussions outlining their research progress and visits to regional companies.  The summer will culminate with an oral or poster presentation of each intern’s research results at the Northeast Ohio NSF-REU Undergraduate Research Conference.

Requirements for application:
  • Completed Application Form (PDF)
  • Letter of application clearly stating field of interest
  • Copy of transcript(s)
  • Two letters of reference. Letters should be from an easily-contacted professor or supervisor who has knowledge of the student’s scientific skills.
Stipends will be $7,000 ($2,000 are used by students to pay for on-campus housing and related expenses).
 
The program will begin on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, and will end on Friday, August 11, 2017.
