German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD): Summer 2016 Internships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will be offering three internship programs for the summer of 2016. They will be RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) Germany, RISE professional, and RISE worldwide.

All three programs look to combine research and study-abroad for a well-rounded experience and are targeted at students in the fields of engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and other disciplines.

  • RISE professional is intended for recent graduates, Master’s and PhD students, and alumni of the RISE program. Participants work with a German company where they are able to see the applications of science and engineering. Scholarships are included to cover living expenses.
    • Online registration and internship database for RISE professional open on December 1st. The application deadline is January 31, 2016.

  • RISE worldwide allows German students to be matched with abroad hands-on researchers. Scholarships are given to cover living expenses and travel costs.
    • Research groups interested in hosting a German student should submit project proposals to  www.daad.de/rise-weltweit/en. This will close on October 15, 2015.

 

  • RISE Germany allows undergrads to work on research projects in universities in Germany. Students get paired with PhD students and get to do hands on lab work while learning new technical skills. RISE Germany participants receive a scholarship to cover living expenses.
    • Online registration and the internship database for RISE Germany open on December 1st. The application deadline if January 15, 2016.
