Year in Review

Throughout my first year here at OSU, there were a lot of good times but also a few rough times. Most of my classes were pretty fun and easy but there were a few that I definitely struggled with. I was able to step it up and get through the rough classes and I learned a lot about what types of studying work best for my own learning style. In addition to academics, I have been very active in Health Science Scholars and student organizations like MEDLIFE and Sustained Dialogue. I traveled to Cusco, Peru with MEDLIFE over winter break, where I helped provide medical care to remote villages that normally wouldn’t have access to medical resources. I became involved with Sustained Dialogue in the spring semester and I helped moderate at the Community Week Police Dialogue. I have earned my American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification, REACH Suicide Prevention certification, and DICE certification. I was also awarded with MEDLIFE member of the year and HSS First Year service. At the end of the spring semester, I was accepted to be in the PROs program, which provide REACH trainings for students and faculty, as well as working with the OSU Suicide Prevention Program to advocate and educate about mental health and suicide.

Some of my favorite organizations I have worked with is the Heinzerling Foundation and the Homeless Families Foundation. I am currently in Health Sciences Scholars and plan on working towards becoming a psychiatrist. I hope to be involved in MedLife and Alpha Epsilon Delta, OSU’s pre-health honorary club, throughout the year. I am very excited to see what this year has to bring.
