Maintaining Motivation Blog Post (module 7)

Well folks, this is the end! And quite frankly I’m happy that its about over. This is the last blog. So what is he topic? Apps that help with motivation. My main problem with motivation is that I get tired. I work full time and go to school full time. That makes me both mentally and physically tired. So, to help me not get too tired I section up my time. The most helpful thing that I learned from this module is the app “Focus Keeper”. It sections up your time into four twenty five minute focus times.

It was helpful to learn about this app. The down part about this app is that it doesn’t help my mind from wondering off. I have learned that I become easily distracted. For example, I have been writing this blog for at least 40 minutes when it really should have taken me 20. Why you may ask? Well, its because I am watching a show called “the tenant of wildfell” on amazon prime. I also have eaten almost a whole bag of pork crackles. BUT if I had taken this study more seriously and devoted a full 25 minutes to this topic then it would have bene completed faster. So where does that lead me now? The end of this assignment and the conclusion of this class. Thank you and have a good night!

Searching and Researching Blog Post ( Module 6)

Hey yall! Welcome back to my blog. I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy. I also hope that you all had an AMAZING thanksgiving! I sure did. I ate so much food that I probably gained at least 2 pounds. 😉 But the best part about thanksgiving is reflecting and giving thanks to my Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ! There is certainly a lot  to be thankful for <3

Well, lets get to the lesson that I learned this week. This module was all about finding good resources. My favorite place to get reliable articles is scholar.google.com. I love how you can filter what you are looking for from many different locations. I try to make sure that the article or study is of good quality and utility. The way that I do that is to look at the way the studies were constructed. Did they have viable data? Who conducted them and wrote the article? When I make sure it is a good resource, I cite it.

I LOVE the extension that I downloaded to my chrome. It is called My Bib. All I have to do is open it, choose the citation style, and click on the citation. It has options for both full cite and in text cite.

Well, that’s all I got folks. I hope this helps you in some way!

Web-Enhanced Listening and Viewing Strategies Blog Post (module 5)

Hey Yall! Welcome back to my blog!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Its been really crazy with not seeing everyone. But we will get through this together, buckeyes! Lets get into the blog…

*intro music that is uniquely generic but not copywrited*

This week I learned some neat things in my online learning class. We shared some videos that helped us better understand something. I shared a video called “The mathematics of weight loss” It really helped me to better understand some chemistry concepts. It asks the question, “What happens when you lose weight?” That was really neat to have it explained so well…Here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuIlsN32WaE&feature=youtu.be

We also went over taking notes. I have been in college for a while now… off and on since 2011…So needless to say I know how to take my notes. I like this outline approach. I have a color for the date/main topic, another color for the detail and another one for the subtopic. Its easy for me to read it if I have it organized that way. One of the note taking styles that was deisscussed in the material was thought mapping. I think this would be the worst one for me to do. I would get distracted and start doodling instead. I have to have my notes more organized. The more that I write ing detail then the less I become distracted.

Hoped this helped! Happy studying!

Web-Enhanced Reading and Study Strategies Blog Post

Hey everyone!!

Welcome to my blog! (intro music with no copyright attached)

This week we learned some really interesting sites that will help us to learn, study, and time manage.

Using resources are very very important to maintain great grades and not lose your mind during a very hectic semester. I know from personal experience that time is something that I have to fight for. I work full time, I’m a full time student and I have a family. So, lets just say that scheduling is a must! One website that I learned about this week is habitica. This is the url: habitica.com. this is a time management site. It helps you schedule your tasks and see when you will get them done. But don’t stop at school!! use it for your work and play.

The other website is quizt. The url: quizlet.com. This website is amazing! You can add matieal that you need to study or use someone else. Its a fantastic and fun way to learn. You can use the flash card feature. Or you may want to play a couple games or take a quiz. Whatever the case, its a fun way to learn FOR FREE! And you know that I have that college student budget.

Well, I hope this helped! Stay sane yall!

Efficiency in the Digital Age Blog Post

Hey Yall! Welcome to my post (Intro music)

I hope you  missed me cause I really didn’t miss you lol. jk. not really. This weeks post is about the “Efficiency in the Digital Age Blog Post” This age is the most advanced EVER! Lucky us 😉

This means that we have a lot that we can do and really need to do. So here is a couple of things that I took away from this weeks module..

Procrastination! We have it and all love to use it. I dont know about you but I’m ALWAYS about 10 mins late. My job is only 7 mins away so I often leave 5 mins before I have to clock in. I’m always late! Its a miracle that I still have a job. The reason that I leave so late is because I dont take everything into consideration. I think that I can leave and get there on time but I never take everything into thought. One thing is that I dont take into consideration that I need time to put my shoes on! We do the same thing with our homework and projects! We think that we cna get it done in time but dont take into consideration the time it take to accually type out the essay.

My suggestion..schedule your time and create buffers for those things that might need more time than the others. I also HAVE to have TODO LISTS!! That is what keeps me on track.

Hopes this helps! Have a happy week!

Module 2: Communicating and Collaborating

Hello everyone!

My name is Victoria. (but my family calls me Toria). I tried to record this post but that didn’t turn out right. So…here is the written version! I hope you enjoy it!!

This week is week 2 of online learning class at OSU. This week we went over module 2: communicating and collaborating. The thing that stuck out to me and that I advise to students is to utilize google. If you have a google email account, then you have access to a lot of free resources such as google docs, sheets, slides, and calendar. Google meet is like zoom but a ton easier and completely free right now. You can also download apps to help you from day to day. I have the to do list app from google. It links up with my email and calendar and helps me stay organized in my busy and hectic week. I work full time (I’m a student coordinator for a small career college), go to school full time (pre-med), and live off campus with my amazing family. So yeah…I know what it is to have a full plate. That’s why I utilize these google tools. You can access them from everywhere. I hope this helps!
