Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. 1. Overall, I believe that I have had a successful first year at Ohio State. Though my classes have presented themselves to be challenging, I have grown by learning to adapt my studying methods to be more efficient and thorough. I believe that becoming very involved in organizations such as Ohio State Club Tennis, Buck-I-Serv, the HSS Leadership Council, and MedLife has allowed me to develop as a leader while expanding my social group. Before coming to Ohio State, it was my goal to become engaged in campus life and I feel like I have definitely accomplished this goal by joining various clubs. I also think that I have grown by placing myself in situations that may have appeared to be outside my comfort zone. For example, on my service trip to Costa Rica I camped outside by the side of a river and also stayed with a Spanish speaking family and I am only able to speak basic Spanish. However, these experiences proved to be very rewarding, and have encouraged me to continue to challenge myself in future settings. Some of my highlights of freshman year include developing a great group of friends through HSS, winning the National championship for club tennis, and attending presentations on research that I have found to be very interesting. I am very happy with my decision to attend Ohio State and I am excited to see what next year brings!
